Hope

The one thing that gave me hope.

I don’t know about you, but I’m always searching for hope in this messed up world.

Generally, watching the news is pretty devastating, I mostly try to avoid reading, watching or listening to the news, but somehow I’m still always in the loop

I get pretty triggered by all the bad news in the world, and for quite a while I felt that the world was a dark place and that there was always someone around the corner out to get you. Being an avid animal lover with a keen interest in animal welfare, seeing all of the cruelty afflicted onto animals by the human race started me thinking that there were more bad people than good. Add to that a career in the Police, and you can see how I could start to see the darker side of life.

Light in the darkness

I don’t remember when it happened or what made me realise it, but there was a point when I became aware that there are more good people than bad.

Yes, there are bad people out there. Those who commit acts of evil, whether it’s terrorism, cruelty to animals or children, or all of the other ways people cause harm. BUT for every individual who causes harm, it takes a tremendous number of people to make right or repair the damage caused.

From the individual who calls the police, or the helpline or rescue centre, to the person who helps the injured heal and even the person who prosecutes the offender. Put like this, it’s obvious to me, that there are far more good people than bad and that made me feel so much better about the world.

Hope

I was reminded of this hope when I was watching the #onelovemanchester benefit concert on Sunday evening. Because even though we can’t make the wrongs right for those killed and injured at the Ariana Grande concert. The thing that made me cry the whole way through the concert was that there are so many people who want to try to do something to make the world a better place, and it works. The world becomes a better place because we have hope again and there is lightness in the dark.

So please if you remember nothing else please remember that for every one person who commits an evil act there are countless more who will try to make the world a better place. Maybe you are one of those people if so thank you.

Sending so much love to you today and every day.

Lara xx
